Weston Ochse joined the U.S. Army before beginning his writing career, and to this day is still active military, just having completed his latest tour of Afghanistan. His travels and many tours of duty have had a large influence on his work, evident by the more than two-dozen books he has written so far, including his Stoker Award-winning Scarecrow Gods. Weston has also had his work appear in comic books, magazines, and anthologies. His latest novel, Burning Sky, is the first in a new military horror series; like Weston's Task Force Ombra novels, it incorporates both aspects of Weston's experience, and imagination. After a tactical support team of veterans return to America from a stint in Afghanistan, each member finds that something strange is going on with them. From meeting people who’ve they’ve never met but seem to know them, remembering events that never happened, hearing voices, to all of them sharing the same dream of a sky on fire, they must discover what it all means, especially for their souls. Special guest host for this event is New York Times best-selling author Scott Sigler, Earthcore being his latest work.
This event is free and seating is first come, first serve. To get a book signed during one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased through Mysterious Galaxy. Event purchases through Mysterious Galaxy not only keeps our bookstore doors open, but also makes author signings possible.
The intense brand-new military horror series from "one of the Major Horror Authors of the 21st Century" - American Library Association
Everything is dangerous in Afghanistan, nothing more so than the mission of an Operational Support Team or O.S.T. Comprised of active duty military, civilians, and contractors, all veterans, these men and women spend seasons in hell to not only try and fix what's broken in each of them, but also to make enough bank to change their fortunes.
Seven months after their last mission, now safely back on American soil, they feel like they've left something undone... like maybe they've left something, or someone, behind. And the feeling is driving them mad. One by one they come together, and discover that they've all been having the same dream... a dream of a woman, a goat, and a sky that won't stop burning.
