Maurice Broaddus is the author of numerous short stories, novellas, and The Knights of Breton Court trilogy, “a cunningly wrought retelling of the Arthurian myth, set amongst the street gangs of Indianapolis” (Ben Aaronovitch, author of Rivers of London). Maurice’s latest novel, Buffalo Soldier, is a steampunk adventure which the New York Times has called a “wild, satisfying ride.” Former espionage agent Desmond Coke finds himself caught between warring religious and political factions of his homeland of Jamaica. Their collective focus is on a mysterious boy named Lij Tafari and the secrets he may hold. Wanting a free life for the boy, Desmond flees with him, constantly hounded at every turn. An action-packed, alternate-history adventure with assassins, intrigue, and steammen, the duo does whatever it takes to find a place to safely call home.
